“Transforming Ruins Into Luxury”: How a Man Turned an Old Toilet Into a Work Of Art!

Modern cottage owners seek comfort and convenience even on their suburban plots. Anything that can simplify and ease life quickly becomes an integral part of cottage living. Among the most essential elements of comfort are water, electricity, and of course, a toilet. When we bought our own country plot a few years ago, it only had a small shed, a summer kitchen, and an old, neglected toilet. Using it was so unpleasant that we tried to avoid it at all costs.
However, not long ago, we decided to change the situation. Starting with renovating our cottage, we focused first on the toilet. My husband decided not just to repair the old structure but to build a new restroom from scratch. In addition to that, he carried out a quality renovation inside, and now our toilet looks like a real modern space compared to what it was before.
Despite the fact that it’s still an outdoor toilet, its new state fully satisfies me. My husband built it himself using materials we had around the house and on the plot. No additional expenses were needed.
The structure is made of wooden planks and beams, which I painted. The roof is constructed from sheet metal, which we also painted. The door was cut from plywood, and we attached an old handle. Even the vanity for the sink was found among our supplies.
The toilet and sink were leftover from our garage after we remodeled the apartment and replaced all the plumbing. Instead of throwing them away, my husband decided to keep them, and it turned out to be a brilliant decision.
Now, we have a fully functional restroom inside the house, ensuring maximum comfort at the cottage. However, we also kept the outdoor toilet. And that’s when the idea struck us: my husband could offer his services to other neighbors with cottages, creating equally convenient and functional toilets for them. Not only would this be an additional source of income, but it would also be a useful endeavor, bringing comfort to others.
