The story of an amazing female surgeon who performed more than 10 thousand operations and worked even at 92
If a person loves his profession very much, then it is already difficult to stop him, he will learn and improve more and more in this sphere. An example of such a belief was Alla Ilyinichna Levushkina, a surgeon from Ryazan.
We were very touched by the story of this amazing woman who did not leave her job and helped people until the last days of her life.
Alla Ilinichna was born in 1927 in Ryazan. Her mother worked as a teacher, and her father was a forester. Her aunt was a doctor and she instilled love for medicine in the girl.
After school Alla really wanted to become a geologist. She dreamed of going on hikes and overcoming various difficulties, the romance of this profession attracted her very much. But everything changed with one single book.
“I read Vikenty Veresaev’s Notes of a Doctor. And I was so fascinated with it that I decided that I would become a doctor. The profession of a doctor is the one that needs constant learning and improving,” Alla said.
Even in difficult war times, Alla did not give up her dream of being a surgeon. She went to Moscow to enter a medical institute, but she didn’t enter from the first time.
It turned out that they took students with only a capital residence permit. And Alla enters the pedagogical one. But, a year later, she still managed to enter the medical school, they helped her with a residence permit.
“My student years were so hard. We were hungry. We students barely survived. And two years later everything was a little better. Sometimes we could afford us even pies. We tried to save money and spent it on sweets,” the doctor told about her student days.
Being a 3rd course student, Alla assisted the famous surgeon Boris Petrovsky, who later became the Minister of Health. But the funny thing was that the girl was so petite that she had to work on a stool. She worked with such a stand all her life, colleagues jokingly called the stand a “carriage”, and before the operation they said “The carriage has been served!”
After graduating from the institute, Alla Ilyinichna worked in Tuva, but then returned to Ryazan and began working in air ambulance. Once she even had to get to the patient through a pack of wolves.
After such an extreme practice, the girl was offered to study as a proctologist surgeon. This profession was still new for that time and no one wanted to take this course. And after 4 months, Alla was the only specialist in the region. She had worked for almost 70 years. It was thanks to her and another doctor that the first proctology department was opened in Ryazan.
Unfortunately, in January 2020, Alla Ilyinichnaya died, she was 92 years old. She was devoted to her profession until the last days.
Alla Ilyinichna was an amazing, very bright and positive person. Rest in peace, great doctor!
