Dogs have proved many times that they are man’s faithful and devoted friends. They are great protectors and guradians not only for humans but also for other animals.
This German Shepherd is a vivid example of this! He became best friends with the injured deer and took the responsibility of caring for him as his older brother.
Serge is 9 years old and he is faithful assistant of his lovely owner Cheryl Stephen. She brought an orphaned fawn who was abandoned on the road. And to the woman’s great surprise, Serge stepped in to help her and look after the poor deer whom they named Buckwheat.
Some touching feelings aroused in Serge and he wanted to be involved in the sweet animal’s nurishment. He took the role of his guardian. Buckwheat needed a good care and the two rescuers were willing to recover him.
As the deer grew older and overcame his difficulties he could be stand on his feet but Serge was always with him to lead him everywhere and had a close eye on him like his elder brother.
Buckwheat was soon ready to go back into the wild. And Serge was sorrowful about that fact. He was losing his best friend. But he had many chances to care for other needed animals as his owner continued to bring and rehabilitate wounded and abandoned animals.
And Serge is always there to give a helping hand and to take a role of a great protector.
