Patricia Williams, a mom, was surprised when she realized her son, Redd, had albinism. He was born with white hair and blue eyes, and later diagnosed with Oculocutaneous Albinism Type 1. Patricia and her husband Dale learned about it when Redd was two months old.
They consulted geneticists and optometrists for a formal diagnosis. Their second son, Rockwell, born in 2018, also has albinism. Unfortunately, Rockwell’s pictures were used in mean memes online.
Redd faced bullying at school for looking different, but his family became advocates for albinism awareness.
Despite challenges, both boys are thriving and living happily.
