“Rejected for Her Looks, Adopted by a Grieving Mom— Now She Becomes Famous”: What Does She Look Like Now?

Michaela DePrince, born Mabinty Bangura, endured unimaginable suffering in her early life. Orphaned at a young age due to the brutal civil war in Sierra Leone, she was left to fend for herself in a hostile environment.

Her physical appearance, marked by vitiligo, made her a target of bullying and discrimination. She was mocked and labeled “the Devil’s Child,” leading her to feel isolated and hopeless.

Despite her hardships, Michaela found a glimmer of hope when she was adopted by Elaine and her husband. They showered her with love and support, helping her rebuild her self-esteem.

Elaine vividly remembers their first meeting, when Michaela approached her with a magazine featuring a ballerina on the cover. From that moment, Elaine promised her new daughter that she would one day become a dancer.

With unwavering determination, Michaela pursued her dream of becoming a ballerina. She faced numerous challenges, but her adoptive family’s love and support helped her overcome them.

Michaela and Randall, another orphan who found a loving family, are incredibly grateful for the unconditional love and care they received. Their stories highlight the importance of family and the profound impact it can have on a child’s life.
