“An Ancient Mysterious House”: A Group Of Tourists Walked In The Forest And Accidentally Found a Structure In The Shape Of a Shoe!
A team of researchers, working on the Abandoned Britain project, has made a significant discovery in the English countryside. Lemurov.net has obtained exclusive details about the cottage resembling an old poem illustration.
Located in the woods near a cliff, the original structure takes the shape of a giant shoe. However, to prevent vandalism, the project participants have chosen not to disclose its exact coordinates.
The poem in question, “The Little Old Lady Who Lived in a Shoe,” dates back to 1794, though its authorship remains unknown. It recounts the tale of a mother with a large family residing in a shoe-shaped house. Over time, the poem underwent alterations, notably in the later version published in “Christian Mother Goose,” where the mother’s disciplinary actions softened from flogging to happily kissing her children before bedtime.
Sadly, the condition of the discovered building is dire. Only the facade of the “shoe” remains relatively intact, while the wooden roof and interior pose hazards to unsuspecting visitors. Sharing a photo on their Facebook page, the search team has sought assistance from users to uncover the history behind the house.
Interestingly, opinions among subscribers were divided. Some claimed a woman resided here in the 1950s, while others suggested it was merely a part of a children’s theme park. Remarkably, the researchers managed to verify both accounts with limited evidence. Indeed, it was confirmed that a woman did inhabit the house in the mid-20th century, before it became a play attraction in the 1970s and 1980s. Presently, the fairy-tale house is in dire need of restoration, as it is heavily overgrown with moss and intertwined with creeping greenery, exemplifying nature’s inevitable reclamation.
