Hensel Twins Welcome a Child Amid Skepticism: Is Pregnancy Even Possible?

In August, conjoined twins Abby and Brittany Hensel, now 35, were spotted with a baby, sparking curiosity among fans. While the sisters have remained mostly silent, they shared a video featuring a selection of photos, including one showing a baby car seat. The clip was accompanied by the hashtags “sisterhood” and “respect,” prompting fans to speculate whether the child is theirs or if they were simply babysitting.
Abby and Brittany first gained public attention in 1996 with an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show and later graced the cover of LIFE magazine. They also starred in a TLC reality show while attending Bethel University in Minnesota and traveling through Europe. Despite their media fame, the sisters pursued education and now both hold college degrees, with careers as math teachers.
Mid-August photos showed the sisters placing a baby car seat in the back of a black Tesla in a parking lot in Arden Hills, Minnesota. Their fans were quick to recall a 2003 documentary, Joined for Life, in which the twins spoke about their dream of having children, making this latest sighting even more intriguing.
Abby married U.S. Army veteran Joshua Bowling in 2021. Joshua has a daughter from a previous relationship. Following their wedding, the sisters addressed critics with a bold message: “If you don’t like what we’re doing but you’re following us, you’re still our fans.” In June 2024, they shared wedding videos, including Abby and Joshua’s first dance to a remix of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep.”
Abby and Brittany are dicephalic twins, meaning each sister has her own heart and stomach, while sharing a blood supply. Each controls the arm and leg on her side of their shared body, navigating life in a unique and remarkable way. Their latest appearance with a baby adds a new chapter to their inspiring story of love, family, and independence.
