Man Turns Decommissioned Jet Engine Into a Mobile Home In 3 Months: Pics And Details!

A man found a decommissioned jet engine from an airplane at a junkyard and turned it into a mobile home in 3 months. The result was incredible! Stephen Jones noticed an old turbine from a decommissioned aircraft’s jet engine at an aviation junkyard and decided to take it home. When the man brought it into the yard, none of the neighbors fully understood what Stephen needed the scrap metal for. But he transported it to his garage workshop, and 3 months later drove a unique motorhome out of the gate.
Airplanes are Stephen’s calling and passion. He is an aircraft engineer and is passionate about everything related to airplanes. When the idea arose to buy a motorhome, the man decided not to go to the store, but to do everything himself. That’s when the turbine of a long-haul Vickers VC10 airliner, which was lying in a holding tank of decommissioned aircraft and was planned for disposal, came in handy.
The 1970s aircraft had long since flown its course, so the turbine was not in the best condition. First of all, the man decided to remove the old skin made of thin, decayed aluminum and replace it with a more reliable material.
The most important thing was that the load-bearing frame of the hull was strong and allowed further work. The work went on actively for 3 months: Stephen was so carried away that he even took a forced leave from work. “I calculated later, I worked on the turbine for 10,000 hours. I don’t regret a single minute,” Jones told reporters. But the result was worth it.
A large panoramic window appeared in the turbine in place of the air intake, and the side parts hid doors. Despite the small size of the hull, a bed, two sofa benches and even a kitchenette fit inside. Jones admits that immediately after the first demonstration to the public, he was offered $30,000 for the old turbine. But the man does not plan to sell it: he wants to go on a long journey in his new home.
