It’s hard to believe that five years have passed since we last visited Paul and Annett in their remarkable off-the-grid tiny house on the Gold Coast. Over the years, a lot has changed, and it’s not every day that we get the chance to check in with people who have been living in their tiny homes for such a long period. It’s truly inspiring to witness how their off-grid lifestyle has evolved and how they’ve made it work long-term.
Since our last visit, their home has seen some exciting updates. The solar system has been expanded to also charge their electric vehicle, and their fruit trees, once young, are now well-established. But beyond these physical improvements, the most significant transformation has been the lifestyle and sense of freedom their tiny home continues to offer.
With solar power (now also used for their electric car), rainwater harvesting, gas from a bio-gas digester, and a garden that provides much of their food, their only major expenses are a small rent and a modest food budget. Thanks to both of them now working from home, most of their income can be spent on travel, hobbies, and a special new project. Want to know what that is? You’ll have to check out the video to find out!
