“I Can’t Watch My Musicals And It Hurts”: 77-Year-Old Elton John Struggles With Blindness – His Recent Pics!
The 77-year-old singer Elton John, who has lost sight in one eye and has limited vision in the other, shared an update on his condition during a gala presentation of the musical The Devil Wears Prada, for which he composed the music.
While on stage, Elton John thanked his husband, David Furnish, calling him his pillar of support: “I couldn’t attend many of the preview performances because, as you know, I lost my sight. So it’s difficult for me to see. But I love to listen, and oh my, tonight it sounded amazing,” he added. In September, John revealed that a serious eye infection he contracted in July in France had caused him to lose vision in his right eye, leaving only limited sight in his left.
Last week, Elton John told Good Morning America that his vision problems were delaying his work on a new album with longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin. “Unfortunately, I lost vision in my right eye in July due to an infection in the south of France, and it’s been four months now that I can’t see.
And my left eye is not much better,” he said. “There’s hope and confidence that it will get better, but… right now, I’m stuck. I can do things like this interview, but going to the studio and recording… I don’t know, because I can’t even read the lyrics.”
