Madonna Shares Heartfelt Photos to Celebrate Her Son’s Birthday: Rocco Ritchie Turns 24
On August 11th, Rocco Ritchie, the son of American pop icon Madonna and British filmmaker Guy Ritchie, turned 24. To mark the occasion, Madonna shared a heartfelt Instagram post, complete with two videos and 18 photos, offering a glimpse into Rocco’s life journey and the many phases of his growth.
“Happy Birthday, Rocco! The long and winding road through all your moods and transformations has been turbulent and full of surprises. But through it all, your curiosity and Artistic Soul have been the glue that held us together. Thank God for Art. Thank God for you. We’ve been together many lifetimes.
Thank you for choosing me again. I love you forever!” wrote the 65-year-old superstar. The first photo shows Madonna embracing Rocco, wearing one of her bold stage outfits, while he kisses her forehead. His clothes and hands are smeared with paint, a testament to his ongoing artistic journey as he hones his skills in painting.
Next, we see a black-and-white throwback video of Madonna’s children, Lourdes and Rocco, sitting at a table. Rocco laughs heartily at something his sister says. Lourdes, by the way, is now 27. The rest of the post takes us through Rocco’s transformation, showcasing changes not only in his appearance but in his artistic work. Fans are treated to glimpses of his paintings, including a portrait he made of his pop-star mom.
The last time Madonna publicly mentioned Rocco was back in April, when she attended his art exhibition in Miami. “So happy to have a day off to enjoy my son Rocco’s latest collection of paintings called ‘Pack A Punch,’ inspired by Muay Thai fighters. So proud!” she captioned the photo.
Madonna’s adopted children, 18-year-old David and Mercy, as well as 11-year-old twins Stella and Estere, were also in attendance at the exhibition. Madonna and Guy Ritchie announced Rocco’s birth in August 2000, shortly after their wedding. Eight years later, the couple divorced. For a long time, Rocco and Madonna were estranged. At one point, he even deleted his social media accounts due to his mother’s constant commenting on his posts.
As Rocco matured, he repaired his relationship with the singer but continues to live in London, where his father has a new family with model Jacqui Ainsley.
