Auschwitz stands as one of the world’s most distinctive places. It retains many belongings of its former prisoners, which were archived and later exhibited in the museum. Although inmates possessed very few personal items, some managed to conceal something valuable.

After the war, Polish survivors proposed honoring their lost loved ones. Families would visit to search for any remaining personal effects. The museum opened in 1947, displaying items once used by those who passed through.

Recently, restorers came across an intriguing discovery – a mug with its bottom missing. Upon inspection, another compartment was found beneath, containing a ring and chain.

Experts investigated and confirmed the items were crafted in Poland. Museum staff were astonished by the find.

Upon arrival at the camp, Jews had their valuables confiscated, yet an ordinary mug went unnoticed. People clung to hope, unaware of what lay ahead.
