28 years ago, this boy lifted weights and set 34 records. What does 34-year-old Bruce Khlebnikov look like today and what is he doing
Back in the early 2000s, the name Bruce Khlebnikov was widely recognized across the country for his remarkable feats of strength.
Known as the “strongman boy,” Bruce set an impressive 34 records during his youth. His extraordinary journey began at just six years old when he accomplished his first record by single-handedly dragging a Volga car.
Born on October 21, 1989, aboard a train from Tula to Moscow, Bruce was raised by his mother, with little information available about his father. He was named after the legendary actor Bruce Lee, and from an early age, Bruce displayed exceptional physical abilities.
By the age of two, he could sit on the twine, and by four, he was practicing wushu. Under the mentorship of Alexei Artyukhov, vice-president of the Wushu Federation, Bruce embarked on his journey in the world of sports.
By age five, Bruce had earned a yellow belt, and at six, he achieved his first record by running 100 meters with a Volga car tied to his hair. After initially attending a regular school, Bruce transitioned to homeschooling in the third grade.
Bruce became a sensation, with many legends surrounding his incredible strength, often likened to Samson due to his long hair, which he cherished. However, in 2009, the strongman seemingly disappeared from the public eye.
While many admired Bruce’s talents, there were also skeptics, including Alexei Svistunov, editor-in-chief of the Russian Book of Records, who deemed Bruce’s feats as mere tricks and not genuine records.
Now 33 years old, Bruce has transitioned away from feats of strength and has opted for a more conventional path. He has cut his long hair, pursued higher education, and dabbled in various professions, including courier work, car servicing, taxi driving, sales, and massage therapy. Currently, Bruce works as a fitness instructor at a gym and occasionally steps into the ring for performances.
