This ’80s Child Star Vanished from Hollywood: See What He Looks Like Now!

Fred Savage, best known for his role as Kevin Arnold in the beloved 1980s series The Wonder Years, became a household name at just 12 years old. The show, which aired from 1988 to 1993, propelled him into the spotlight, making him one of the most prominent child stars of his generation. However, after the series wrapped, Savage surprised many by stepping away from acting rather than transitioning into adult roles. This decision marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life, one that would involve a shift away from the Hollywood limelight.
Instead of continuing his acting career, Savage focused on his education, returning to high school and later enrolling at Stanford University, where he majored in English. His interest in storytelling and writing led him to engage in student theater, but he largely kept his distance from Hollywood’s social scene, relying on the support of his family and non-industry friends to keep him grounded. After completing his education, Savage briefly returned to acting with the sitcom Working, but it was behind the camera where he would find his true passion. He spent several years learning from experienced directors, gradually making his mark as a director of various television series.
Savage’s most significant return to the entertainment industry came in 2021 when he served as executive producer and director for the reboot of The Wonder Years. However, his involvement with the reboot ended in 2022 following allegations of inappropriate conduct, which he denied. Amidst the industry strikes of 2023, Savage chose to shift his focus entirely, exploring a long-standing passion for vintage watches, which he had cultivated since 2017 through his involvement in collector communities. This personal interest would soon lead to a dramatic career change.
In late 2024, Savage officially launched Timepiece Grading Specialists (TGS), a company specializing in providing reliable third-party evaluations of collectible watches. This venture was inspired by his frustration with the inconsistencies in the vintage watch market and the need for standardized grading services, akin to those used in other collectibles industries. Based in Dayton, Ohio, and in partnership with a watch repair business, TGS offers detailed assessments of authenticity and condition, marking Savage’s complete transition from Hollywood to the niche world of horology.
Now 48, Savage has embraced a quieter life centered on his growing business in the vintage watch market, far removed from the Hollywood red carpets of his youth. Although he resides in Los Angeles with his wife, actress Jennifer Lynn Stone, and their three children, he spends part of each month in Dayton.
