Her condition worsened, and she was transferred to a trauma center in Montréal. More than a decade later, her children had matured into remarkable individuals. Their eldest son, Micheál, born in 1995, followed his parents’ footsteps, making his film debut in 2013.

To honor his Irish-Catholic roots and his portrayal of Michael Collins, they chose the Irish version of the name, “Meehall.” The couple raised their sons in New York, where Micheál had to adopt an English accent for a film role.

Despite the heartache of losing his mother at thirteen, Micheál drew strength from his grandmother, Vanessa. She provided unwavering support, filling the void left by his mother’s passing. Micheál described the loss as sudden and overwhelming, emphasizing the importance of holding onto cherished memories. Over time, he and his brother learned to remember their mother in the little details of their lives.

The couple’s second son, Daniel, was born in 1996. Unlike his father and brother, he pursued studies in acting and digital media, focusing on production.

He expressed gratitude for the strong support system that helped him balance work and fatherhood. The actor shared that being a father allowed him to grow as a person, stating, “They really do help, in all sorts of quiet, subtle ways.”

He admitted that there were times he felt powerless in his role as a father.
