These Siamese twins are surely happy to be separated at their little age
The birth of the twins Erin and Abby might have brought a happiness to their family but anxiety was the main feeling that their parents experienced at that time. The fact was that the newborn babies were just 900gr and what was more devastating, their brains were joyned and the doctors gave no hope for their survival.
But the brave couple didn’t want to give up and lose their hope that their babies would stay alive. They did every possible thing to help the children.
When Erin and Abby were about 1 years old, the doctors undertook the most difficult operation, but they didn’t give any guarantees, there was a very high risk of the death of one of the sisters. The surgery lasted 11 hours, and after the separation both of them was fortunately saved.
Now, the girls are about 4 years old. They feel amazing. The doctors were literally proud of their hard work. They constantly observe the childrens’ growths and development. This perfect example gives them a guarantee that such kind of difficult operations can be possible and even successful. By the way, this operation was the first in the history of medicine when Siamese twins were separated at such an early age.
Both girls are getting therapy to restore brain functions that didn’t develop when they were paired.
Of course, in the coming years, the sisters will have other operations – they will reconstruct their skulls and insert the missing bones.
The parents Erin and Abby are very joyful and grateful to the doctors for their devotion to their work as their girls raise up next to them and really hope that they will gain a perfect life having survived such trials.
