On the Seine, you’ll find quite a few houseboats, which have become a trendy living option in France. One of these floating homes once belonged to Pierre Richard. The actor moved into the barge, moored in the heart of Paris, back in the 1980s, transforming it into a cozy three-room apartment.

However, Pierre Richard now resides in a more traditional setting. The move was prompted by his wife, Brazilian model Seyla Lacerda, who, standing at 180 cm, found the small barge a bit too cramped. Today, the couple lives in a two-story apartment, complete with a rooftop greenhouse filled with trees.

Interestingly, Seyla is nearly 30 years younger than her famous husband. While their relationship initially puzzled some, the public has since grown accustomed to it—they’ve been together for 20 years and have no plans of parting ways.

Pierre Richard, still not ready to retire, continues to make occasional appearances on the big screen. His latest film, Umami, was released in 2021, featuring Gérard Depardieu alongside Richard. The film explores the rivalry between French and Japanese chefs.

In 2023, Richard starred in the historical drama Jeanne du Barry, alongside Johnny Depp, Maïwenn Le Besco, Benjamin Lavernhe, and Noémie Lvovsky. The film tells the story of one of King Louis XV’s most famous mistresses, with Richard portraying Cardinal Richelieu.

Today, wine from Pierre Richard’s vineyard is exported to 11 countries, and his bottles can be savored in French and Belgian restaurants. Occasionally, the actor will make an appearance at these restaurants, signing bottles purchased from his wine cellar.

In addition to his love of wine, Pierre Richard has a deep appreciation for fine cuisine. For decades, he has owned a Michelin-starred French restaurant. In 2017, he co-authored a book with French-Russian writer Elena Joli, titled A Luxurious Dinner with Pierre Richard: Exclusive Recipes from Top Chefs.
