Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman celebrated her 55th birthday on June 20! Despite her age, the actress, as before, enchants the audience with her charm, beauty and talent. Kidman was the first Australian actress who was given an Oscar for Best Actress.

Below are  a few memorable films casting Kidman.

“Days of Thunder” (1990)

This is Nicole Kidman’s Hollywood movie debut. She starred in the film with her future husband, Tom Cruise. She was playing the role of a young doctor Claire Lewicki, who fell in love with a NASCAR race car driver played by Cruz.

“Die for the Name” (1995)

A satirical black comedy by Gus Van Sant. Nicole played TV presenter Susan Stone-Maretto, who was ready for anything for her career – even for murder. Kidman was highly praised by film critics, and was  nominated for an Oscar. Val Kilmer, Jim Carrey, Tommy Lee Jones, Chris O’Donnell, Drew Barrymore were her colleagues on the set.

“Moulin rouge!” (2001)

This film was a real breakthrough in the career of an actress. Kidman got the role of Courtesan Satin. For this role, the actress was nominated for an Oscar.

“Hours” (2002)

Here Nicole  played the role of the English writer Virginia Woolf. The film describes one day in the life of three women who live in different times but are connected to each other through Woolf’s psychological novel. Kidman won an Oscar for this role.

“Cold Mountain” (2003)

In this work, Nicole Kidman starred with Renee Zellweger and Jude Law. She played Ada, who is madly in love with a poor carpenter (Low’s character).

The film received seven Oscar nominations.
