Katya Nezhentseva was born an unusual child. Doctors didn’t expect this, since Katya’s mother’s pregnancy was normal, but the baby was born with a face “like an old woman’s” – completely in folds and wrinkles.

With age, the feature didn’t disappear, but only worsened. After numerous examinations, Katya was diagnosed with progeria, an extremely rare disorder when the body ages much faster than usual.

Katya’s case turned out to be unique: rapid aging affected only the girl’s face, and her body developed according to age. After making sure that there was no danger, the doctors suggested correcting facial features with the help of plastic surgery. True, it had to be done every year, otherwise everything returned to its original state.

However, the illness didn’t prevent Katya from finding her happiness in life. The sociable and cheerful girl didn’t lack friends, despite her peculiarity. Fate gave Katya a chance meeting with a young man who later became her husband. Now the couple is raising two sons, one of whom was born completely healthy, and the second inherited the features of his mother.

Many believe that in Katya’s case it was irresponsible to have children of her own, knowing the danger. And what do you think about her decision?
