Gray-Haired Since Birth: Meet the Girl with the Most Unusual Appearance!

The little girl inherited her hairstyle from her mother and grandmother—a strange genetic mutation is passed down only through the female line. There is a genetic disorder—not even a disease, a condition—called piebaldism. Due to a malfunction in the supply of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin and hair color, hair or skin may appear discolored. Like, for example, Winnie Harlow—a famous model with vitiligo. And some people are born with gray hair.
Talita Vieira, due to this peculiarity, suffered a lot in childhood: her peers teased her in every possible way. She tried to paint over, mask the bright white strand of hair on her forehead, but nothing helped: gray hair is difficult to dye even with dyes. It was immediately clear that this feature of appearance was inherited: Talita’s mother had the same strand in her hair. Talita was very worried that her children would have the same disorder, and they would also get their fill of ridicule. Her fears were partially justified: Talita’s daughter Maya was indeed born with gray hair. But so far, they have been spared from ridicule.
“Maya was born 54 centimeters tall, weighing 4.25 kilograms, and with the most beautiful hairstyle imaginable,” Talita recalls. “Everyone admired my girl, both nurses and doctors.” The white strand simply glowed in the black hair of the newborn girl. The news that such an unusual child was born spread throughout the hospital. According to Talita, someone from the staff constantly came to their room to see such a miracle.
In addition to her hair, the baby looks little like her mother—she has much more in common with her father. And he has been crazy about his little girl from day one: when Talita told him about the pregnancy, he almost burst into tears of happiness and has been cherishing his daughter ever since.
This year, the little girl will turn four years old. The gray hair in her hair has not disappeared—and will not. And the mother teaches her little girl to love and accept herself as she is, to respect her uniqueness. Maya’s account is full of photos in which she poses in the images of various characters, from Rogue from “X-Men” to Cruella from the movie “101 Dalmatians.”
