For 27 Years, She Captured Goodbyes: The Emotional Archive of Farewells Between a Daughter and Her Parents!
For 27 years, the woman captured photographs of her parents as they waved goodbye to her. “I never set out with the intention of creating this photo series,” she reflects.
“At first, I simply took these pictures to help cope with the sadness I felt each time I had to leave. It was my way of holding onto something tangible, something to remind me that even though we were apart, they were always there, wishing me well as I moved forward in life.”
Over time, however, this simple act evolved into something much more meaningful. What began as a small ritual turned into a tradition, a living archive of the goodbyes they shared throughout the years. Each photograph became more than just an image — it captured the complex emotions of parting, the unspoken bond between parent and child, and the passage of time.
The tradition persisted through changes in their lives — different homes, life stages, and milestones — yet the ritual of the goodbye remained unchanged, a constant that marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
These photographs became symbols of love, distance, and the resilience of family, preserved in every frame, allowing her to relive the emotions of those moments even when they were no longer together. In the end, what started as a way to manage her emotions evolved into a powerful testament to the enduring connection between them.
