Amazing Marilyn: A selection of rare pictures of Marilyn Monroe taken from her early childhood
Norma Jean was born on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles, Southern California. She had no father, but had many guardians. One guardian often replaces the other. Norma’s mother was unable to give her the attention and motherly love she needed throughout her life.
The girl had no family. Inconstancy in everything always accompanied her.
She was a good essay writer at school. She wrote a lot for the school newspaper. She had a rich vocabulary and a good imagination.
By the time the girl was 19 years old, she worked at an aircraft factory.
This was during World War II. Oddly enough, but it was here that her career as a model began. At her work, women were photographed to show the work at military factories.
The picture shows Norma assembling the world’s first drone. It was her first modeling experience, which brought positive results.
Thanks to this photo, she was recognized and offered a photoshoot for a financial reward. Our heroine accepted the offer. The girl had beautiful brown hair, and the image with them was harmonious and attractive.
It was thanks to her appearance that Norma Jean received a job offer at the Blue Book modeling agency.
Over the time, she became popular, and her hairstyle has been constantly changing. Curly brown hair – straightened. Encouraged by the huge success of the photographs, the head of the modeling agency offered her a contract. Then the girl was 20 years old.
Then in 1946, an important event happens in the life of Norma Jean – she signs a contract with the 20th Century Fox film studio. Under the pressure of the manager of the film studio, she is forced to change her first and last name to the pseudonym Marilyn Monroe.
The name change was not easy for the model, but by 1956 she succumbed to persuasion to make her new name legal.
In parallel with her work in the studio, she studied acting. Norma worked as a model for three years. She later returned to modeling again, but not for long.
Norma played her first major role in 1948 in the low-budget and unsuccessful musical “The Chorus Girls”. In 1949, Marilyn Monroe underwent plastic surgery on her jaw and nose.
She appeared in episodic roles in 1950-1951, it was a short period of time. However, when she appeared for five minutes in the film, the viewers could not take their eyes off her unearthly beauty.
Since 1952, Monroe was often given the main roles. She acted in the successful films “Clash in the Night” and “You Can Enter Without Knocking”.
However, critics did not appreciate her work. As a result, it was decided that Marilyn did not have the acting experience and skills to perform such roles. Other comments have been made in defense of Marilyn. Many said that the problem was that the script was bad.
She also starred in such films: “The Leader of the Redskins” and “Monkey Labor”. However, the more popular she became and the more roles she played, the worse her mood and state of mind became.
She had stage fright, she was constantly monitored from the outside, forgot her lines and was constantly late for shooting. It was difficult for her to be on the set.
At the peak of her popularity, Marilyn faced a problem – she was upset that fans saw her as a movie heroine – a stupid blonde with a beautiful face and sexy body.
Many people did not take her seriously; they considered her a beautiful doll performing in front of the audience. But she wanted everyone to see her acting talent. She wanted more. Marilyn knew she had to be great.
Monroe dreamed of acting in serious roles and being recognized as a talented actress.
Then, in 1956, Marilyn got an important role as a singer in the drama Bus Stop.
Marilyn once and for all dispelled the idea of herself as a glamorous person.
At that time, few people knew that she had a passion for reading books. Actually she had many books in her personal library. Our heroine wrote quotes, the content of which was taken from her own life. These are some of her philosophical quotes:
“Smile, because life is beautiful and there are many reasons to smile”,
“When I was little, no one ever told me that I was beautiful. Every little girl needs to be told that she is beautiful, even if she is not”,
“True beauty comes from femininity. Female attractiveness is strong only when it is natural and spontaneous”, and so on.
Between 1960 and 1962, Marilyn Monroe experienced ups and downs both in her career and in her personal life. She became addicted and could no longer live without drugs that depressed her central nervous system.
Marilyn Monroe died in 1962 because of drug overdose. According to the doctors who examined Marilyn, in the last years of her life, she often suffered from anxiety and depression. She experienced sudden and unpredictable mood swings.
It was concluded that the drug overdose was the star’s own choice. Marilyn Monroe died when she was so young – only 36 years old. It was a short but bright and famous life.
Her pale skin, shining blonde hair, hairstyle, tender eyes, scarlet lips and snow-white smile are a true reflection of herself. She became what she wanted to be – great. Even now, many models and actresses would dream of having the charm and beauty of Monroe. She probably left her name in the history of cinema forever…
