Indian cinema was very popular about 15-20 years ago.

It’s a pity, but the names of great Indian actors are generally known only in their homeland. And there are those who managed to gain popularity around the world. Aishwarya Rai is a magnificent Indian actress.

This actress is the idol of many people, and not only in their country, she was able to conquer Hollywood as well.

Aishwarya was born in the city of Mangalore on November 1, 1973 in the family of a famous Indian writer and merchant marine officer. She grew up in a wealthy family and thanks to this she was able to get a decent education. She studied at a college in Bombay.  She knew English from an early age, which was very useful in her further acting career.

Like most girls, Aishwarya has been involved in dance and music since childhood. She was always interested in art. The most interesting thing is that she never dreamed of becoming an actress.

When she was little, she wanted to become a veterinarian, and when she got older, she wanted to become an architect, that’s why she chose the College of Art, where she was going to get a prestigious and worthy profession.

And at the age of 18, a modeling agency noticed the girl and invited her to a casting, since then her life has changed dramatically.

Her amazing appearance admired many people. Aishwarya soon got used to the fact that almost everyone considers her the most beautiful, so she took it easy. She starred in many photo shoots, participated in shows, it was hard not to notice and highlight her.

The girl was offered to take part in a beauty contest and Aishwarya agreed without hesitation. After that, various offers, contracts with famous brands rained down on the girl.

When she won a beauty pageant run by fashion giant Ford Models, Aishwarya became the face of American Vogue. And since then she has become the most famous girl in India.

About a year later, Aishwarya took part in a Pepsi commercial: she passed the casting, where there were about 2000 participants. It was another important step on the way to world fame.

Then there was the beauty contest “Miss India” in 1994, but unexpectedly for everyone, Aishwarya took second place. But this did not break the girl at all, she decided to participate in the international beauty contest – “Miss World 1994” and was able to win!

Two years after such global success, Aishwarya Rai left the modeling business and decided to conquer the world of cinema. The first film in which she starred was “Tandem” (1997), which eventually received the approval of both the public and critics. The film itself was shot in Tamil, which the actress did not know, and her character was voiced by a completely different actress.

Aishwarya played very well and this film was quite successful. But the next picture, called “The Imposter in Love”, was a failure, the audience spoke very negatively about him, including the acting game of Rai.

In her next work, the film “Innocent Lies” (1998), Aishwarya decided not to experiment and do what she is good at – dancing! As a result, it was the dancing scenes that received the highest praise from film critics and viewers, and Aishwarya finally got the right to call herself an actress.

Then there were two of the most successful Indian films: “Forever Yours” and “Lovers”, where the girl played with the main handsome man of modern Indian cinema – Shakhrukh Khan.

The path to Hollywood for Aishwarya was opened by the musical melodrama Devdas, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Not only the film was appreciated – the girl’s acting talent was finally noticed outside of India.

The real success, which generated the interest of the American and European public in Aishwarya, was the release of the film “Spice Princess”.

Despite confident steps in Hollywood, the actress never stopped acting in Indian films. Like many Indian actresses, Aishwarya, who sings and dances beautifully, could not ignore the music business: she has several albums and music videos.

She sings, dances, acts in films both in her native India and beyond … When does this beauty have time to live? But it turns out that she manages! For example, in 2004, Aishwarya founded her personal charitable foundation that provides assistance to needy people in India, and in 2007 she married her beloved.

The upcoming marriage of the actress became known in early 2007. Aishwarya’s boyfriend is Indian actor Abhishek Bachchan, the son of famous actor Amitabh Bachchan. They later had a daughter, Aaradhya.
