A 19-year-old mare beat all the odds, after she gave birth to a second set of twins
A 19-year-old mare defied all expectations when, 18 months after the birth of her first pair of twins, she gave birth to a second set of twins. For a horse, giving birth to twins at all, much less twice in a succession, is a very rare occurrence. But Destiny surprised everyone, including her owner, by defying the one in a million odds.
When Destiny gave birth to twins in 2018, Gassons Farm Stud owner Tania MacKee in Exeter, UK, was astounded. Given that the mare only gave birth to one baby during the first trimester of the pregnancy, you can only image how she must have felt when the mare gave birth to another set of twins 18 months later. Although the first pair of foals were identical, the second pair has some differences, but they are still equally gorgeous.
The ecstatic horse breeder announced the amazing news to the world via Facebook!
The post states that amazing mare Destiny foaled a flawless pair of foals. Destiny and her two foals were all up and having a well-deserved meal, the two young ones galloping around the stable and investigating their surroundings. There was only one foetus found. There was never even a hint of a suspicion of anything strange during her pregnancy.
Tania can only be relieved and appreciative that both foals are in excellent condition. She is however still looking for an explanation for the exceedingly unusual occurrence.
It was incredible. Even though Tania has been breeding for a very long time, she has never heard of anything like this before. “It was bizarre. They were healthy? I can’t believe it. They are robust, healthy foals. They have a lot of sass.
Along with their older brother Shockwave and Masta Blasta, the adorable twins, who have not yet been given names, reside at the farm.
You can see the father of the foals, the magnificent Lord of the Dance, in the image below.
