“Lost 30 Lbs In A Short Time”: 52-Year-Old Christina Applegate Revealed The Reason Of Her Weight Loss!
Christina Applegate, at 52, has candidly discussed her significant weight change, attributing it to her ongoing struggle with multiple sclerosis (MS), rather than dieting achievements. Describing her diagnosis as “devastating,” Applegate revealed the toll it has taken on her health, including numerous hospital visits triggered by severe pain and nausea.
Applegate explained the adverse effects on her digestive system, leading to considerable discomfort and weight fluctuations. Initially gaining weight due to steroid treatments and decreased mobility, she later lost a significant amount, clarifying that her weight loss was not intentional but due to her health issues.
The actress described her daily battle with MS symptoms, particularly in the mornings, as extremely challenging, affecting her pain levels, sensory functions, and balance. Despite these hardships, Applegate finds solace in the improvement of her friend Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who also battles MS, fostering hope for her own future.
Determined to witness her daughter’s key life moments, Applegate is committed to managing her condition. She highlighted the importance of her support network, including Sigler, and expressed gratitude towards her fans. Maintaining a sense of humor, she even joked about her mobility issues during an Emmy award presentation, which was met with an ovation from the audience.
Reflecting on her earlier symptoms, Applegate noted times of unexpected weakness in her legs during the filming of “Dead to Me,” which she initially dismissed as minor issues. It was only after her symptoms worsened that she began to suspect her long-standing battle with MS.
Her attendance at the 2024 Emmys, where she presented an award with the aid of a cane and dressed elegantly in red, was a significant and touching moment, marking her resilience in the face of MS.
Applegate first shared her MS diagnosis in 2021, requesting privacy as she navigated this new chapter in her life. She later detailed the profound impact MS has had on her daily routine, turning simple tasks into challenges.
While Applegate requires assistance, she prefers to keep help to a minimum to protect her immune system, relying on a close friend during the week and a caregiver on weekends. Although she values visits from friends, she acknowledges that they can be physically taxing given her condition.
